Roman Sokolov
Roman Sokolov (1976, Obninsk, Russia)

Comics artist , illustrator, animation artist

A magnificent animation artist, creating storyboards for children’s shows, along with animation and title sequences for films (Playing the Victim, dir. Kirill Serebrennikov, 2006)

Roman graduated from the visual arts department of the Saint Petersburg State Pedagogical University, then completed animation courses at the animation studio Melnitsa (Saint Petersburg).

Currently is a director of several episodes of the animated show GoGoRiki at the studio Peterburg; also teaches at the children’s animation studio Da!

Since 2003 draws comics for the comics festival ‘KomMissia’, where won several prizes : Organizers’ Choice Prize for Nothing Special (2003), prize «For the Most Intriguing Plot» for You See Me (2004), Grand Scenario prize for the graphic story KVAS (KVAS was also shown at a festival in Angoulême as part of the project «Born in the USSR» in 2010).

Roman Sokolov’s comics have been published in the collections Almanakh (Moscow), ChPKh (St. Petersburg), Skazka (St. Petersburg), Napoleon vsegda schastliv (St. Petersburg), and the journals K9 (Kiev) and AARGH! (Prague)
